In 2012 many teams incorporated a Driver, Cyclist or Companion Runner / Walker to accompany their team. Many teams requested that these individuals, in these support roles with their team, be able to receive the event shirt, finisher’s medal, and any other item that the participants would receive. Relay Around Columbus now has an optional 2013 program to accommodate for these individuals if they want to receive these items.
To register a Driver, Cyclist or Companion Runner / Walker, the Captain must register them (on the RAC registration page), to ‘join’ the team, and will be charged a fee to address these participant items. This registration is separate from the team registration and must be done by the Captain. A team may have any or all of these people join their team provided that the are registered on line, sign a waiver at the start (with the other team members), and the team vehicle must be large enough to have a seat belt for each these individuals along with team members. EX. 9 total team members – 9 seat belts.
Please note that this on line registration is only a requirement for teams that would like to have a Driver, Cyclist or Companion Runner / Walker and would like to have these same items that the participants receive. If these individuals do not want these items, then teams may still incorporate these people into their teams, but they will not have to have them register online. However, they will have to register their information (name, phone, emergency contact info, etc) and sign waivers at check-in at the start of the event. In addition, the team vehicle must have enough seats with seat belts to accommodate them in the team vehicle.
Driver, Cyclist & Companion Runner / Walker Registration and cost*
January 1, 2013 through March 31, 2013 $25.00 per person
April 1, 2013 through May 31, 2013 $30.00 per person
June 1, 2013 through June 22, 2013 $35.00 per person
* Driver, Cyclist & Companion Runner / Walker registration is separate from the regular team registration. Drivers, Cyclists & Companion Runners / Walkers are required to sign the RAC event waiver and will receive event shirt, finisher’s medal, etc. A team may have one of each, but only if the team vehicle has a seat belt for each person on the team including the Driver, Cyclist, and or, Companion Runner / Walker. Note: Active.com will administer a small administration fee, which is typical of online registration, in addition to the Driver, Cyclist & Companion Runner / Walker registration fee
NOTE: All registration fees are non-refundable, even if a team is no longer able to participate in the relay.
Driver, Cyclist & Companion Runner / Walker Substitution Deadlines
January 1, 2013 through May 31, 2013 – No Charge
June 1, 2013 through June 22, 2013 - $25.00 per change
For substitutions after May 31, 2013, there is no guarantee that the substitute will get the size of shirt they desire.
